Israel Army IDF Post WW2 Rerfurbished British MKII Painted Helmet
Thanks to a fellow eBayer for the ID. The helmet you have is refurbished by Israel in the 1950s. The shell is a MkII WWII period British helmet, the overall shape, chinstrap clips and rim are the indicators of that. The gray liner material and the chinstrap are both of Israeli manufacture below is a link to helmet website that has a similar example. The riveted holding the liner in is probably aluminum, common to Israeli refurbs. You can see the remnants of what I think was black, yellow and white paint all over the top of the helmet, along with what looks like a name in black on the very top. There are two areas of particular interest. One area is a large diamond shape with what possibly is a number in the middle, and also what looks like some lettering?
The other side has a very interesting area of yellow outlined with black, that appears to be a hexagon shape with a number 1? Might also be a 12. I cannot read the name, looks like it starts with an M or W with some lettering after that.
The helmet weighs 2 pound 5 ounces and measures about 10 x 12 x 4.5 inches. The item "Israel Army IDF Post WW2 Rerfurbished British MKII Painted Helmet" is in sale since Friday, July 13, 2018.
